Ultra small 0402M size, low loss MLCC supporting 100V rated voltage
Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has developed a new low loss multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) that supports a rated voltage of 100V and has an ultra small size of 0402M (0.4 x 0.2mm). It is mainly used for wireless communication modules and will begin mass production in February 2024.
In recent years, with the popularity of 5G, the introduction of MIMO (Multiple Input and Multiple Output, a technology that uses multiple transmitting and receiving antennas to improve communication speed) has gradually increased, in order to achieve the high-speed, high-capacity communication, multi connection, and low latency characteristics of 5G. However, due to its need for multiple signal transmitting and receiving devices, the demand for modular wireless communication circuits is increasing. As a result, the installation space for components is becoming increasingly small, and the demand for small components is expected to further increase.
In response to this, Murata developed an ultra small and low loss chip multilayer ceramic capacitor with a size of 0.4mm × 0.2mm, which can operate at a temperature of 150 ℃ and has a rated voltage of 100V, by utilizing thin layer forming technology based on Murata's unique ceramic and electrode material granulation and homogenization, as well as high-precision stacking technology. Compared with Murata's previous product (0603M size), it has successfully achieved miniaturization, reducing the mounting area by about 35% and the volume by about 55%. This has contributed to the miniaturization of wireless communication modules. In addition, product miniaturization also helps reduce energy consumption in materials and production processes.
